… and then there was rain.
For all my best intentions for getting a grip of 2019, 2019 seems to have got a stronger grip on me. I went for a whole three weeks without shooting a single frame, between work, travel for work and the fact that I forgot to take my camera when I was travelling, August was a complete wash out. I do like a list. No, I mean I really like a list. I have notebooks filled with lists. Lists of books I want to read, lists of photographic locations I want to visit, lists of presents to buy, ideas, thoughts, general ramblings, lists of everything I may need to know at some indeterminate point in the future. This year I am going to cross off some of those photographic items. Read More
Complete disclosure here, this post has no theme or coherent content whatsoever. Life as been a whirlwind of hectic meetings, work and other miscellaneous life admin, and so my photography has been sporadic. I have been grabbing opportunities, sometimes of just a few minutes to take some shots.

What is it with me and staircases? I seem obsessed lately. Every time I go out on a photo jaunt, there seems to be a top class staircase. Read More
Last week The Delightful Mr F and I went to Edinburgh for a short break. I will admit to being, annoyingly excited about this trip. Firstly, I love Edinburgh, I met the Delightful Mr F when we both worked in Scotland, so it has lovely memories. Secondly, we went on the Caledonian Sleeper Train. This has been on my wish list ever since I read Murder on the Orient Express. I simply couldn't imagine anything cooler than getting on a train in one city, going to sleep and waking up in another. Fennell Towers is located in North East Hampshire in the UK where the climate is pretty benign. It is never really too cold or too hot, too dry or too wet. Until this week. This week saw The Beast From the East, as the tabloids had it, meet Storm Emma coming in the other direction. Cue the temporary end of British society, as we know it. Read More
... of Northumberland Avenue that is. As a part of my Monopoly project, I have been trying to get a decent shot of Northumberland Avenue for ages. Apologies to residents of this esteemed street in London, but I never seem to be there when the light is interesting. Read More
About this time last year I took delivery of my new Fuji X100F, and The Delightful Mr F and I headed off to London to put it through its paces. A not so original idea struck us, why not try to take a photo in each of the locations on the UK edition of the Monopoly board? Read More
Last week I had a client meeting up in London. Travel arrangements were tricky and I could not afford to be late. Given the current state of the railways in our area, I decided to take a much earlier train than seemed sensible. As is the fate of rail users everywhere, when planning contingency in a journey, it wasn’t needed and I was at London Waterloo at 0630* and with two hours to spare. Read More

I am feeling rather sheepish about this post. Several months ago I was asked on Facebook if I would share the film simulation settings I use on my Fuji cameras. "Of course!", I said, "I'll write a blog post!". Then work happened, and happened some more, and then suddenly it was December. Anyway, better late than never I guess. Read More
